UP boy, born with disabled hands, writes exam with toes; gets 70% marks

He said he used two different pens – black and blue – to make his answer sheets look beautiful.  After having scored an impressive 70%, Tushar said he aspires to become an engineer.

Tushar Vishwakarma from Lucknow’s Creative Convent College has scored 70% marks in his Class 12 examinations. But unlike his friends or other students, he didn’t write his papers with his hands.

He wrote his answers using his toes.

Tushar with born with a disability that impaired his ability to write with his hands. But he was determined to attend school after seeing two of his elder siblings.

It was then he turned his toes into his hands and began writing with it.

This year, Tushar refused to take the help of a writer or request extra time from teachers for completing his exams. He wanted the same conditions that other students are given.

“Since birth, both my hands do not function, but I never considered it as a shortcoming. When my two elder siblings started going to school, I also requested my parents that I wanted to go to school, but the hurdle was how would I write. Trying to copy my siblings when they studied, I turned my toes into my hands and began writing with it,” said Tushar.

He said he used two different pens – black and blue – to make his answer sheets look beautiful.  After having scored an impressive 70%, Tushar said he aspires to become an engineer.

His father Rajesh Vishwakarma, who works a small private job, is supportive of his son.
“My father Rajesh Vishwakarma faced a tough time in ensuring my admission. He went to various schools but they refused to give me admission and finally, he succeeded. I overcame my disability and started writing with my toes. I practiced for almost six hours a day and then started writing fast,” said Tushar.

Tushar is also thankful to his teacher who supported him throughout. He said they allowed him to sit on the floor during the exams.
