State Bank of India (SBI) has formally rolled out major Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives in Tirupati, targeting pediatric healthcare infrastructure, sustainable campus transport, and self- employment for women.
As part of the healthcare drive, SBI chairman C Sreenivasulu Setty presented a grant of Rs 57.23 lakh to establish a dedicated Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Sri Padmavati Medical College for Women (SPMCW), operating under SVIMS University.
The donation was officially received by SVIMS director and vice-chancellor Dr G Jagadish, ensuring enhanced, life-saving critical care access for children from economically weaker sections.
Advancing eco-friendly campus transit, the bank donated two eight-seater electric passenger buggies valued at Rs 15 lakh to the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Tirupati.
The vehicles will serve the institution’s 1,850 students and staff members by providing zero-emission, accessible mobility across campus.
Extending the outreach to community empowerment, Ms Surya Sreedevi, spouse of the SBI chairman, handed over 221 sewing machines worth Rs 15.03 lakh to the social organization Rashtriya Seva Samithi (RASS).
RASS general secretary Dr S Venkataratnam noted that the equipment will enable trained women from self-help groups (SHGs) to establish self-employment ventures and secure steady household income.
