Minister Joshi distributes bicycles & school kits to girl students under ‘Umeed’ initiative

Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi today participated as the Chief Guest at a bicycle and school kit distribution programme organised under the initiative, “Umeed”, with the support of RBL Bank at Government Inter College, Kishanpur. On this occasion, Minister Joshi distributed bicycles and school kits to 300 girl students from 18 different government schools belonging to rural and low-income backgrounds under the CSR initiative.

Encouraging the students, Minister Joshi said that education is the biggest tool for empowerment, and the government’s goal is to ensure that no girl is deprived of education.

Minister Joshi said that initiatives like “Umeed” are important steps toward making girls from rural areas self-reliant and empowered. He added that a bicycle is not just a means of transport but also a symbol of self-reliance and confidence. He urged the girls to study with dedication and hard work, fulfill their dreams, and create a new identity for themselves in society. “Umeed is not merely a programme,” he said, “but an effort to give wings to the dreams of our daughters. The bicycles distributed today are a motivating step toward their bright future.” He emphasised that the government is making every possible effort to help daughters progress and make Uttarakhand proud.

He stated that the double-engine government is continuously working for the uplift and empowerment of women. He also highlighted that, through self-help groups, the state government is effectively working toward women’s livelihood enhancement. The government’s aim, he said, is to make every daughter educated, self-reliant, and empowered, and continuous efforts are being made in this direction.

Minister Joshi expressed happiness over the increasing number of students at Government Inter College, Kishanpur, calling it a positive sign of change in the education sector. The growing number of students, he said, reflects the increasing trust of parents in government schools. He congratulated and extended best wishes to the schoolteachers, stating that the state government is committed to providing quality education and ensuring the availability of necessary resources so that students can study in a conducive learning environment.
