Over 200 women from vulnerable and low-income households in Paikoro Local Government Area of Niger State have received empowerment support through an intervention by the Founder of the Future Pathways Foundation, Hajia Saadatu Sani Musa.
The beneficiaries received undisclosed financial assistance alongside a bag of rice each during the commissioning of a Cassava Processing Centre at Jabo Jere Ward. The event, which drew community leaders, government officials and residents, was marked by excitement and expressions of gratitude from the women, many of whom described the support as timely amid prevailing economic challenges.
Hajia Saadatu Sani Musa attended the event as Special Guest of Honour, adding prominence to the commissioning ceremony. The cassava processing centre was initiated by the member representing Paikoro State Constituency, Hon. Umar Nasiru, who said the project was designed to strengthen agricultural value chains, promote value addition and create employment opportunities at the grassroots.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Nasiru commended Hajia Musa for what he described as her consistent, people-focused interventions across the constituency, particularly her support for vulnerable women. He said the empowerment gesture complemented the objectives of the cassava processing centre by directly addressing household welfare and improving women’s economic resilience.
“The cassava processing centre is about jobs, income and sustainability, and this support for women strengthens that vision by helping families meet their immediate needs,” Nasiru said.
In her remarks, Hajia Musa said the initiative was in line with the core mission of the Future Pathways Foundation, which focuses on practical and dignity-driven support for vulnerable populations, especially women. She stressed that empowering women at the grassroots was critical to strengthening families and stimulating local economic activity.
“No household should go to bed hungry, and every woman should have something to fall back on, no matter how modest,” she said, adding that women empowerment remains one of the most effective ways to enhance food security and promote sustainable livelihoods in rural communities.
She also noted that the cassava processing centre aligns with the foundation’s broader vision of promoting self-reliance and value addition, particularly in agrarian communities.
Beneficiaries at the event expressed appreciation for the intervention, saying the support would help stabilise household needs and, in some cases, support small-scale economic activities. The atmosphere at the venue was marked by smiles, relief and renewed hope as the women received the items.
Community leaders and other stakeholders praised the initiative, describing the collaboration between public office holders and private philanthropy as a model for inclusive development. They called for sustained partnerships and similar interventions to deepen economic resilience among women and vulnerable groups in Paikoro and neighbouring communities.
The event highlighted both the commissioning of a key agro-processing facility and the impact of targeted community-based philanthropy in restoring dignity and improving livelihoods at the grassroots.
