Flint test drive event boosts electric car accessibility and savings

Aside from taking a ride, Consumers provided information on incentives that can lower the cost of owning an electric vehicle.

Consumers Energy was offering free test drives of seven electric vehicle models Saturday.

People could sign up for one or two 15-minute driving sessions from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Harrison Street Parking Lot in Flint.

There were popular models to drive like the Ford F-150 Lightning and the GM Hummer EV SUV.

Consumer Energy representatives were also present to provide information on incentives that can lower the cost of owning an electric vehicle.

“Our triple bottom line at Consumers Energy is people prosperity and planet and driving electric really attributes to all three of those things,” said Senior Product Manager for Consumers Justin Stowe. “So we want to bring um electric vehicles to  communities that we think could benefit and so we’re here offering free rides and drives to our customers.”

Consumers Energy makes electric vehicle charging convenient and affordable for our customers.

They provide incentives for EV drivers at homes, businesses, and at public locations, and continue to develop solutions to help EV owners across the state.
